What are my chances to get treatment?
Most prescriptions are treatable. If you do not meet the criteria for laser surgery, you have another option available for you – implantable contact lenses
Can I get treatment if I am breastfeeding or pregnant?
Since vision is affected by hormonal activity during pregnancy and breastfeeding, this is not a suitable time to get such treatment, because no accurate prescription readings and eye measurements can be obtained. You will have to wait up to three months after stopping breastfeeding to apply for treatment.
If I am diabetic, am I suitable?
If your diabetes is kept under control and there are no eye-diseases present, you may be suitable for treatment. However, this will be decided by a specialist after a thorough examination.
If I have Glaucoma, can I be treated?
If your optic nerves are damaged due to Glaucoma, you are not suitable for treatment. If there is only ocular hyper-tension and no Glaucoma history in your family, you may be considered for treatment.
Can someone with a squint already corrected be treated?
Usually, yes. However, squints corrected by a prism cannot be lasered for better results. If you are a successful contact lenses wearer, you may opt for laser eye surgery and hope for excellent results.
What is the minimum age for treatment?
Legally it is 18 but most prescriptions seem to have been fully stabilised after the age of 21. You will also produce a prescription that has not changed for at least one year to be considered for treatment.
Are people with thin corneas suitable?
Such patients are unable to have LASIK but may be suitable for Epi-LASEK. If the prescription is severe, ICL are a better option.
If I wear bi-focal glasses, am I suitable?
Since laser treatment is for distance vision, you will still have to wear reading glasses after the operation.
